SynCity: Hyper-Realistic Simulation for Autonomous Applications

January 11, 2018

CES 2018 is playing host to a wide variety of autonomous technologies. One of the more interesting ones is the SynCity platform developed by CVEDIA, a cloud-based dataset management provider.

SynCity is designed as a hyper-realistic simulation that allows the construction of real-world scenarios that would be otherwise difficult to produce, due to their challenging or hazardous nature. The platform simulates a wide variety of sensor models as customizable plug-ins; supports exotic 2D and 3D land, aerial and marine environments; and enables transfer learning for a wide variety of operations — including autonomous vehicles, robotics applications and sensor manufacturers.

Last week, CVEDIA announced a partnership with a group of companies focused on self-driving application and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), including TetraVue, developers of high-definition light detection and ranging (LIDAR) camera technology that Electronics360 reported on last month, which could be a game-changer in terms of ensuring autonomous vehicle safety.

“Having worked with TetraVue in the past and consistently being blown away by the remarkable quality of their technology, we are thrilled to be partnering with them at CES,” said Arjan Wijnveen, CEO of CVEDIA.

Those attending CES 2018 can see SynCity in action at Booth 6619 in the automotive North Hall.
